Lessons Learned from Engaging Communities in Nutrition Research

Part of the BCTR’s Talks at Twelve series.
Tahsara Leak is an assistant professor in the Division of Nutritional Sciences at Cornell University and the Division of General Internal Medicine at Weill Cornell Medicine. Leak is also co-director of the Action Research Collaborative, which is part of the BCTR.
Leak designs culturally relevant interventions, in partnership with community stakeholders, that aim to improve diet, health, and overall well-being of adolescents that reside in urban communities. Leak is deeply committed to conducting research that informs public health programming and policy. Her research studies have a clearly identified plan for translation from the very beginning, developed in partnership with stakeholders.
