The Parenting Project

The Parenting Project: Healthy Children, Families and Communities focuses on integrating extension and research activities in the area of parenting education.

The Parenting Project aims to provide research-based resources for parent educators to enhance their work with parents and families and to expand existing programs.  It also provide training and tools to evaluate parenting programs and report on these programs by county, program and statewide to describe the importance of parent education to maintaining healthy families in New York communities.  Community assessments are used to assist counties in identifying and assessing parenting education needs at the community level.

The Parenting Project website provides information relevant for parent educators. These resources provide guidance to educators in evaluating their program(s), acquiring program funding and writing grant proposals.  The Professionals section presents information on parenting research topics, provides professional development resources and lists various parent education programs available across New York State.

While the project’s mission is geared to parent educators, the information is useful to all interested in the connection between parenting and research.
