Friends, family, students, and colleagues of the late Philson A.A. Warner gathered on May 21 at Food & Finance High School in Manhattan to celebrate Warner’s achievements and contributions to the STEM field and study of hydroponics, aquaponics, and aquaculture. It was also the unveiling of the newly renamed Dr. Philson A.A. Warner Hydroponics/Aquaponics Greenhouse and Learning Labs, formerly known as the Cornell Learning Labs.

“Dr. Warner’s impact will be felt through the many generations of students who pass through the doors of Food & Finance High School,” said Jennifer Tiffany, executive director of Cornell University Cooperative Extension—New York City. “The renaming of the greenhouse and learning labs honors his lasting legacy.”

Warner worked for Cornell University Cooperative Extension for nearly 45 years and was renowned for his efforts to bring STEM learning opportunities to students based in New York City. The hydroponics, aquaponics, and aquaculture learning labs offer internship programs and classes where students learn fundamental STEM concepts and explore careers in science and agriculture.

The Dr. Philson A.A. Warner Hydroponics/Aquaponics Greenhouse and Learning Labs will continue to operate under the management of extension associates Imani Dailey and Maya Kutz.
