The Bronfenbrenner Center for Translational Research has announced that Kirsten Elmore will serve as the associate director of the BCTR. Elmore will also continue her roles as assistant director of the Program for Research on Youth Development and Engagement (PRYDE) and community-engaged learning coordinator for Cornell Human Ecology.
“In contributing to our center for many years, Dr. Elmore brings a deep understanding of our mission, a collaborative spirit, and a passion for advancing community-engaged research,” said Anthony Burrow, BCTR director. “Kristen’s new role responds to the BCTR’s evolving needs and will provide dedicated leadership to support new initiatives and strengthen the core operations of the center.”
Elmore is serving as the BCTR’s interim director while Burrow is on sabbatical for the Fall 2024 semester. Elmore will focus on key areas such as enhancing educational and training priorities, expanding the center’s partnerships within and beyond campus, and supporting the development of the center’s research infrastructure.
Elmore will build upon her existing connections to Cornell Cooperative Extension through PRYDE to create more opportunities for faculty, students, and extension experts to work together and learn from one another. This includes a focus on partnerships that leverage statewide cross-cutting expertise around youth, families and nutrition from Cornell Human Ecology, and Cornell Cooperative Extension. This also includes Cornell University Cooperative Extension – New York City, furthering CHE’s and the University’s commitment to New York City.
Burrow stated that this new appointment will allow the center to more soundly engage the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead for the BCTR and deliver better science and practice to the communities it serves.
“We’re so happy to have Kristen in this new role as we continue to build a dynamic and impactful future for the BCTR,” said Burrow. “I look forward to the opportunities this will make possible for all of us.”
