Guest Lecture on Healthy aging

Dr. Patricia Morsch is the healthy aging advisor for the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), World Health Organization (WHO) Regional Office for the Americas. A reception will follow the lecture.
Morsch’s work focuses on providing technical cooperation to PAHO’s Member States to advance in healthy aging practices and policies, including care for older people, tackling clinical, social and environmental factors associated with improving the health and well-being of older adults in the Americas. Since joining PAHO in 2019, Dr. Morsch has closely worked with countries to implement the United Nations Decade of Healthy Aging and to achieve its goals; examined and published on clinical and environmental health and innovation opportunities regarding age-related issues.
Prior to working for PAHO, she was a faculty member at the Faculty of Education and the Environment (FAEMA) in Ariquemes, Brazil, teaching within the Physiotherapy discipline, and a researcher at the Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio Grande do Sul (PUCRS). Dr. Morsch holds a Doctorate in Biomedical Gerontology from PUCRS and received her Master of Arts in Gerontology from the University of North Carolina, Charlotte.
