The Contribution Project is now closed – selected projects announced in coming days

All the submissions have been collected and the projects that will receive funding from The Contribution Project will be notified in the coming days.

This is the second time The Contribution Project will fund ideas developed by Cornell undergraduates. The first round of funding, in January 2019, awarded $400 to 50 projects, but this year, 100 projects will be funded.

“Right now, we’re going over all the submissions to make sure they were feasible and safe, as we described in our submission process,” said Anthony Burrow, Department of Psychology professor and director of the Bronfenbrenner Center for Translational Research. “Once we have all of our qualifying projects, we’ll start randomly selecting the projects that’ll be funded and notifying those students.”

One hope for the project this year is to truly share how much each Cornell student’s idea is positively affecting the world, perhaps through an in-person event.

“We would love for the students to share why they came up with this idea and showcase how students think they can have a positive impact on the world,” Burrow said. “The last group of students wasn’t given that opportunity because of the pandemic, but it’s important to hear, from the students themselves, ways in which they can change the world with one meaningful contribution.”

This year, The Contribution Project is funded by HopeLab, a social innovation lab that supports research and services that promote youth thriving.
